Cara Cara Scones

These Cara Cara Scones are a fresh twist on a classic baked treat! Made with juicy Kings River Cara Cara oranges, they are bright, sweet, and bursting with citrus flavor. This simple citrus scone recipe highlights seasonal California oranges in every bite.

Cara Cara Scones

Ingredients

Scones:⁠
2 cups all-purpose flour⁠
1 cup cake flour⁠
1 tbsp baking powder⁠
1 tsp salt⁠
¼ cup sugar⁠
1 ½ cups heavy cream, plus extra for brushing⁠
¼ cup juice from Kings River Cara Cara oranges⁠
1 tsp vanilla extract⁠
Zest of 1 Kings River Cara Cara orange⁠
Sugar for sprinkling⁠

Glaze:⁠
2 tbsp cream cheese, softened⁠
2 cups powdered sugar⁠
2 tbsp juice from Kings River Cara Cara oranges ⁠
1 tsp Cara Cara orange zest⁠
½ tsp vanilla extract⁠
2 tbsp milk⁠

instructions

Mix wet and dry ingredients separately. Combine together until a craggy dough forms.

Use your hands to shape into two 5-in circles and chill for at least 1 hour.⁠

Preheat oven to 400 F. Cut circles into 6 wedges. Brush with heavy cream, sprinkle sugar and bake 20–25 min until golden. Cool for 10 min.⁠

Mix glaze ingredients until pourable and drizzle over warm scones.⁠
