Cara Cara Scones

Crispy, flavorful, and irresistibly tangy - this baked orange chicken is perfect for a holiday weekend feast!⁠

Ingredients

Scones:⁠
2 cups all-purpose flour⁠
1 cup cake flour⁠
1 tbsp baking powder⁠
1 tsp salt⁠
¼ cup sugar⁠
1 ½ cups heavy cream, plus extra for brushing⁠
¼ cup juice from Kings River Cara Cara oranges⁠
1 tsp vanilla extract⁠
Zest of 1 Kings River Cara Cara orange⁠
Sugar for sprinkling⁠

Glaze:⁠
2 tbsp cream cheese, softened⁠
2 cups powdered sugar⁠
2 tbsp juice from Kings River Cara Cara oranges ⁠
1 tsp Cara Cara orange zest⁠
½ tsp vanilla extract⁠
2 tbsp milk⁠

instructions

Mix wet and dry ingredients separately. Combine together until a craggy dough forms.

Use your hands to shape into two 5-in circles and chill for at least 1 hour.⁠

Preheat oven to 400 F. Cut circles into 6 wedges. Brush with heavy cream, sprinkle sugar and bake 20–25 min until golden. Cool for 10 min.⁠

Mix glaze ingredients until pourable and drizzle over warm scones.⁠
