How to Cut Citrus
Cut citrus easily with a sharp serrated knife. Trim the top and bottom for stability, then slice downward to remove the rind and pith. Halve the fruit horizontally for juicing or cut into wedges for serving.
- A sharp, serrated knife works best for cutting through the skin and pulp of citrus fruits, as it easily slices without squishing the fruit.
- Cut off both the top and bottom of the fruit. This will create a flat surface and make it easier to stabilize the fruit while cutting.
- For a cleaner cut, you can use a paring knife to remove the rind and pith (the white part) in vertical strips. Hold the fruit upright and slice downward, following the curve of the fruit.
- After trimming the ends, slice the citrus in half horizontally. You can then either squeeze the juice or cut it into wedges from here.
