Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Kings River citrus grown?
While California citrus is our primary growing region, the season does not extend through the summer months. During the gap in season, we partner with growers from other countries that have the same high-quality standards kept by Kings River to keep a steady supply of citrus available to you year-round.
Where can I buy Kings River citrus?
You can find Kings River citrus at many major supermarkets and club stores across the United States and Canada. We recommend calling the store ahead of time to ensure the specific citrus you want is available, as factors like weather can impact availability. For a list of stores, check out the “Where to Buy” section.
Can Kings River ship citrus directly to my home?
We don’t offer home shipping right now, but you can find our citrus HERE.
How should I store my Kings River citrus?
Unrefrigerated citrus will keep for about 1.5-2 weeks. If you want them to last longer, keeping them in the refrigerator will keep them fresh for up to 4 weeks.
Is Kings River citrus genetically modified (GMO)?
No, all our citrus is non-GMO.
Why are Navel Oranges seedless?
Navel Oranges were first discovered in Brazil in the 1800s from a tree that had a natural mutation making it seedless and growing a second orange grew inside the fruit creating the navel looking bottom of the fruit that gives it its name. Because the fruit does not contain seeds, cuttings were taken to graft to new root stock to allow for more trees to be planted even to this day.
Can seedless citrus sometimes have seeds?
Yes, although varieties like Mandarins and Navels are typically seedless, bees can sometimes travel from seeded fields to seedless ones, cross-pollinating the blossoms and resulting in fruit with seeds.
Why is most citrus sold in netted bags?
Netted bags are popular for many different types of citrus is because humidity makes oranges mold and decay very quickly. So, packaging must be very porous to keep humidity concentrations down.
Does Kings River Packing use Apeel?
No, we use organic coatings like vegetable wax or lac-resin. No synthetic waxes are used.
Do any of your citrus varieties have any crossover with grapefruit?
Only Minneolas, which are a mix of tangerines and grapefruit, have a crossover.
I love your products! Do you offer any coupons?
We love to hear that! Unfortunately, we do not currently offer coupons.
